The fiscal year is done. Time to get posting again…
Well Tam alerted me to the fact that police went out and shot a man armed with a pen. That the man only had one arm and one leg meant that he was probably at the pinnacle of mobility whilst waving a pen around with his only arm.
Here is my money quote from the article.
“It was close quarters in the area of the house,” Silva said. “The officer was forced into an area where he had no way to get out.”
That leads me to post up this clip…
So are the police are really going to try and defend the shooting of a guy with one arm and one leg in a wheelchair?
In 2009 the Democrats in charge of the Peoples Republic of Maryland passed a law (SB277 for those of you who care) which was full of the things Democrats in the PRoMD love. Mostly it included a low burden of proof for the state to issue you a ticket, as well as a lack of real oversight, and weak standards. As I recall this measure actually got voted down the first time and then our esteemed “Governor” Mr Martin “I want to be the next president of America” O’Malley had his crony government resurrect the bill and twisted enough arms this time around to “pass the bill”.
This lead to them lowering speed limits on roads, declaring almost any road a “school zone”, and creating temporary work zones just to set up cameras. The school zone thing is something most of us gunnies are very familiar with as the hoplophobes have long tried to use this angle as a gun elimination method.
Once people started analyzing the tickets they were receiving in the mail, and finding that they were being issued tickets even when they were not speeding. This prompted them to start taking the tickets to court and winning based on simple physics and the time stamps on the photos. This lead to the scamera operators to take the information about time between photos, and other information that someone could use to prove that they were in fact not speeding off of the tickets.
Then we had Judges denying the right to due process and declaring that you were guilty unless someone else was driving and you were turning them in at the court appearance.
So all of these abuses in the
cash speed camera program have finally lead to people starting to rebel against the speed cameras. Vandalism of the cameras is now becoming more and more frequent. I can’t wait for a site to sprout up in Maryland much like the one in the UK about the Gatso cameras being vandalized. It turns out that some of the counties (PG being the one I know about right now) are fiscally responsible for the repairs of the scameras to the tune of between $30,000 to $100,000 each.
So all of this background leads up to my post title. The fact that in Prince Georges county they have now set up cameras to watch the cameras.
Of course these geniuses have failed to read the news about the most extensive CCTV network in the world being foiled by the use of a hoodie. So for the vandals to keep on vandalizing and costing the counties and scamera operators hundreds of thousands of dollars it just requires the use of a hoodie.
To the vandals: You can get a hoodie at the local dollar store. Ride on…
Its the end of the year and we have been busy trying to get gear all shipped out. So not much blogging for me till the end of next week. But there are a few things on my mind, so I will try and squeeze them out into the ether…
Wow. As of right now the Apple map app that is in iOS 6 is full of fail.
I used to love the app for the traffic info. That is the first thing I looked at and wow talk about fail.
It is nothing but ugly. I am betting that if Steve were still alive this abomination would have never seen the light of day.
Google put the traffic up as green, yellow, then finally red with nice flashing bits along the highways… It was my personal guide on what routes to avoid every day.
Now it is a bunch of red dashes alongside the road. They have added triangles and construction alerts which is nice but their traffic sucks. I make my driving decision based on the yellow and red areas, now I just have red dashes and I am not liking it.
Well I picked up a nice set of Klim riding gear for our trip next year. Today was the first day that it looked like a good day to ride into work in the rain.
Only a little rain on the way into the office, so I did not notice my impending fail for the trip home.
Well I left the office a bit early for the trip home as the weather got really bad in the afternoon. I was able to make it 3/4 the way home before the heavens opened up. Heavy rain was what I was looking for, the hail was just a bonus.
Well the gear held up very nicely but the I FAILED to zip up the pit vents so when I got home both sides of me were soaked.
The pants were perfect with no water anywhere, and the Sidi Adventure Gortex boots were the most waterproof boots I have yet to own with no leaks or even any dampness.
So besides not zipping up the pit vents on the jacket I was very happy with the gear.
When you don’t paint your ground effects kit. You suddenly get all Fast and Furious and find that you have driven past the limits of your skilz… And when you exceed the limits of your mad skilz, stationary objects on the side of the road tend to rise up and smite thee.
I owned a Track edition 350Z until I got rid of it for my current 370Z Roadster. That car was a hoot to drive much like my current Z. It was always down on power and the new one was a bit better from the factory. I fixed my power issue and love the car and see myself keeping it for a long while.
Thanks to Bayou Renaissance Man for posting that one up.
Its time to cut and run and by run I mean lets leave scorched earth where our embassies stood.
No more Billions for the muslim brotherhood in Egypt, no more Millions for the Palestinians. Lets see how well these places do without the Infidels money.
They want to live under Sharia law, fine lets let them. But America no longer needs to fund them. It won’t take too long for them to devolve back to 600 AD.
Thats all I have to say about that.
Well the Ravens game was quite good, at least if you are a Ravens fan. The seats were not bad and we got a nice view of Ed Reed and his record breaking interception and runback for a TD.
We left just after the Ed Reed TD, we wanted to beat the light rail crowds and get home to our freshly post op pup..
He is doing ok despite loosing a lot of the lower left hand side of his jaw to the tumor.
