    Project Spectrum Purple!

Ok, it’s time to do some Project Spectrum updating here!

For June, the color was blue, and I started the Sockotta Socks in lovely yarn with 2 different blues in it.  I finished them right after getting back from St Louis which was a great mini vacation.

Now on to the July Project Spectrum color:  Purple.  Now, it just so happens that I LOVE purple.  Particularly purples that are more on the blue side as those tend to look better with my complexion.  So, there is a shapshot of my purple stash.  And my finished purple project of spinning for the Summer Spinning Challenge.  The monster skein on the right is the finished Australian Bond skein.  (I still have many more of these to go to finish 2+lbs!

Now, some photos of St Louis.  I am going to start with some shots I took in the Missouri Botanical Gardens of which Anne is a member.  (This is fast becoming one of my favorite places in the country.) There was an exhibit called Glass in the Garden and I was lucky enough to see it!  Pieces of glass art by Dale Chihuly were placed all throughout the gardens and most of the exhibits are in the Climatron, and extremely hot and humid place with tropical plants of all types.  You may know of Chihuly’s glass art if you have ever been to the Bellagio hotel in Las Vegas the reception area showcases his chandelier, Fiero di Como.  Here are some of my photos from this beautiful exhibit.  I’m no Cara but I do what I can.

This boat is very project spectrum and was one of my favorite installations of the exhibit.

That last piece reminded me of Van Gogh’s Starry Night over the Rhone and his even more famous The Starry Night.

I’ve started a pair of Retro Rib Socks from Interweave Knits magazine Winter 04 using some Trekking yarn in a variety of purples and navy blue.  It’s all because Alianne showed us her Trekking yarn and I found some at my LYS!

My next post will be about my fun trip to the Zoo with Rebekah and Anne!
