Ah the first nice weekend of the year is in the books.
Max got more exercise this weekend than in a long time. Saturday was Puppy Play Time at PetSmart, and that evening our friends Shayla and Dave came over with their little dog (named Problem, spoken with asian accent) who played with Max for 4 hours straight. Max was a little worse for wear at the end of the night as Problem has some sharp teeth, this morning he is looking normal and only a little bit chewed on.
I went out looking for the Wild Eep sound from the old system 7 days but was not able to find it anywhere. If worse comes to worse I will boot up an old mac in the basement and extract it from the system any of you faithful readers have it handy???
I have been having a hankering for some good clam chowder. My wife got me a couple of cans of pre assembled New England style clam chowder and I had one of the cans and it was bland and booring. I need a good easy recipe for a really good NE style clam chowder. Anyone???
We have a few project to get started on the house, some winter maintenance and side entrance that has crumbling concrete which we are thinking of replacing or rebuilding it with stone. We also spent a semi nice weekend cleaning out the garage so I could get to my wood working shop again.
Ok time to go get stuff for dinner
Later...
Now I love having open discussions on this little spit of electrons, Rob I think made a small error in using the words Saintly and Politics in the same sentence. He says that Teddy is working hard for our healthcare benefits, which may also be true but since he mentioned our benefits lets take a little look at our generation. The generation that will be worse off than our parents generation when it comes time to retire…
Now this one is a going to be fun. The trouble stems from the fact that when my generation retires we have nothing but ourselves to rely on (maybe Social Security) to make our future secure. No Pension, No Healthcare coverage and heaven forbid you get sick. Why will we have no Pension or Healthcare? Well it all boils down to corporate greed, the stock market and Political neglect.
Man. Talk about let downs. I just found out the the red faced non car driving liberal Kennedy uses Macs. Now I have to reevaluate my position on the bugger. Probably won't change my opinion of him but at least he has good taste in computers.
Well we have needed a new bed for a while now but have been putting it off for one reason or another. We finally went out and got a new bed a few weeks ago. First off I have wanted a king sized bed since SWMBO and I first started to live together but got outvoted each time we discussed getting our first bedroom set. Now the whole dynamic of our sleeping has changed since we have a forty five pound bed lump who more often than not likes to sleep between Liz and I. So Liz has given in on the king sized bed and I finally get my Big Bed.
We have had our old bedroom set for 6 years and frankly the mattress had seen better days. It is fine for a short stay but if you had to spend more than a week in it, the middle of the mattress is the place to sleep. We really decided that we wanted a TempurPedic mattress and seeing and being able to lay down on one in the mall at Brookstones basically sealed our decision. We found a local store that sells TempurPedic mattresses and pillows, and ordered our new bed. We both balked at the price but when you look at the fact that the mattress is warranted for twenty years against failure of the foam and such we finally gave in and bought it. We were amazed at the delivery time since I had heard that we could be waiting for up to a month for delivery of the mattress. We ordered on a Sunday and had it delivered on Wednesday talk about snappy service.
The first night in the new bed was a bit rough but that is to be expected as is the norm when you adjust to a new bed. The second night was absolutely blissful, I can not even feel when Liz (or Max for that matter) moves around at night. The memory foam is very nice and we love it so far.
When king size is not really king size.
We had purchased king size feather comforters and duvet covers for said comforter thinking that if we ever went to a king sized bed we would be set. Well upon putting duvet on the bed after they had delivered it I found that the duvet did not hang over the bed at all. Now this is a bad thing since Liz is a blanket hog and we are always fighting over the covers in our sleep. Well we make a trip to Macys and low and behold we found king sized comforters ranging from 78 x 80 inches to 108 X 95 inches. It seems that the comfortor that we bought a few years ago was a 78 x 80 and we needed minimum of 100 x 90. SO if you are in the market for a new comforter remember that they are not all the same. Really…
Ok now that my site is up and running again and I have finished all of the house keeping on the links and stuff lets get in a general update.
First off the Leg.
As most of you know I broke it in three places in January. I got the cast cut off a few weeks ago and things are looking good. I just started my physical therapy last week and all is going well. If things continue as planned I will not need to have any surgery. I am still not running and the walk only has a bit of a limp.
The Dog.
Maxamillion is doing quite well. He has had a few chewing incidents but nothing like Leo who decided to make things interesting for Alex and Conny. By the way can someone explain why he chews up some of Liz’s shoes but not the ones I hate, I am sure that Murphy will pop up in that explanation somewhere. We have had to alter how we live a bit by removing anything from any horizontal surface that is at Max level after coming home to a few piles of shredded paper and plastic but no trips to the emergency vet for removal of harmful objects.
He weighed in at forty six pounds minus the Nads, and is probably going to top out around fifty five pounds which is not bad considering that he was at just 11 pounds when we rescued him on November 6th. There have been almost no accidents in the house for the most part and that is good thing judging from our friends at PETsMART who have dogs that have still not figured out the difference between inside and outside. He is a very well socalized dog who gets along well with other dogs and loves people (especially if they will let him lick them). So we are off to a good start with little Max.
I am sure that I have forgotten something or other but I have lots of time to figure out just what I forgot now that I can concentrate on blogging again.
Work
Nothing has changed people just move along…
Life
Life is good now if July would just hurry up and get here so we can go on vacation at the CDL
Well I had a fun Valentines Day weekend with my Wife doing things just for her.
Now I unlike Chuck will wear cologne. I used to wear laugerfeld but it no longer smelled good on me. I seem to have caustic skin oils which change the scent of colognes and hence Laugerfeld was now on the outs for Liz. A new scent was needed. Off to Nordstroms.
Well everyone (all 2 of you) I am back. I was using a hosting provider that did everything for me but when they had a disk crash on the server they had all kinds of problems getting things running again. I am sure that my rabid posters found that there were perl scrip problems and were not able to post to my site thus causing all kinds of anguish around the globe.
Well it all started out on a nice cold day that just happened to be before the wonderful made up holiday you know the one Valentines Day. That holiday where every man with a significant other rushes to fill the local Hallmark store desperately searching for that special card that will get him off the hook for all the things that he may have done thus far this year. Needless to say our significant others got their cards weeks ago...
So on February 13th at roughly 5:18 PM I received my last email for an extended period of time. I thought man now nobody loves me not even the spammers. Around Monday I figured that something was wrong since I was unable to reach my blog to post about the fun that I had that weekend (I stayed away from the computer all weekend and gave SHMBO my undivided attention). Well it turns out that there was a wee technical problem and my hosting company spent all weekend working to fix it (I am sure that excuse worked well for the support staffs weekend bash.). Now it is February 18th at 12:20 PM and I get my first email in 5 days... Yes folks I said 5 days. Needless to say I am bit perturbed at my hosting company. To give them credit the did answer my emails about just what had happened to my email and site. They were never able to get perl functional on my site again and stopped answering my emails. At this point I got fed up and went on a search for a new hosting site.
Alex was able to point me to a very nice place that would host a virtual Linux machine for a reasonable price. I hopped on that with some gusto and in 10 days I had everything up and running on a spare domain. at that point I figured it was time to cut Limpidity over to hobbs... (my server name).
After fighting with apache for a bit I was able to get the virtual site hosting running smoothly and here we are only a bit worse for the wear.
So for all my poor devastated fans I will be back to posting on a fairly regular basis again.
