Fun Turns to Tragedy!!!

The Skinny

I am a gun enthusiast trapped in the People's Republic of Maryland. My political affiliation is Independent, as the Ruling parties are both full of crap, and long ago stopped representing the common man. If the Libertarians weren't such freaks I would probably be one. I am a member of the Nation of Riflemen and damn proud of it. I once took an oath that I would support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic. As far as I know I never broke that oath, and will continue to follow it. I am not Politically Correct and will NEVER be Politically Correct. If you need to know more, feel free, Ask.

what am I up too???

Come get your weather…
Humbaba, would you come get your weather already!!! We had a record of over 4 inches of rain for yesterday, the previous record was just over 2 inches from the 1800s. We are also having a very mild summer as far as temperature is concerned, that part I don't mind as it is usually 99° and 98% humidity but all this rain is killing me... On a side note the corn looks great...

Posting Peeves…
I am going to comment on .rob’s post in my comments for two reasons. First he may have some good points but he then goes ahead and hits on my pet peeve. You see when you start name calling of any type you have just gone and lost your audience, turned off the majority of intelligent people that feel that using fallacies in your argument makes it null and void. That is something I hate when I visit any site and they commence name calling, and using multiple fallacies. My personal favorite being that the facts they use to make their argument do not support their conclusions. Operating some government services in deficit isn't always a bad thing -- sometimes it's the right thing. Sorry but I learned the hard way the running things in a deficit is never a good thing. You make due with what you have (raising taxes to have more is not the answer), you learn to give up some things that you like but do not need. If you have a surplus those emergency situations are covered while you readjust things to cover the current situation. For sure, a number of state governments over-spent and over-expanded on services during the Clinton Economic Boom. But, during that era a decidedly right-wing congress shifted the funding of many entitlements to state legislatures. Simply put, they forwarded the bills for social programs to our state governments, shirking their fiscal duties long-ago assumed by our more gentle, kind, socially-aware political grandparents. (The current American right-wing's style is to avoid responsibility while shifting blame. Dirty white-male business tactics they must've learned before deciding to become politicians, if you ask me.) Once again you blow away all of you sound reasoning with loaded terminology. If the politicians did what you said they did they certainly also forwarded funds to the state level otherwise the state governments would be complaining loudly to the local press. Sorry my grandparents were too busy trying to raise a family in the depression (my grandfather had Polio (worked hard even with his disability) and died when I was very young and my grandmother lived on a fixed income till she was in her 90s with no government assistance) to be politicaly active. Deficits are wise and good if: [1] they protect the innocents of our community (disabled, poor seniors, our children's welfare) That’s why I pay taxes in the first place. I do not pay taxes so that we can feed cloth and house some irresponsible person and their six children (the last 4 children were had while already on welfare). [2] state legislatures mandate minimum (of % of FY tax revenue) diversion of tax-revenue into "lock boxes" that can only be opened under pre-determined economic conditions (e.g., tax revenue drops x% from the prior fiscal year) That should not be done through deficit spending ever. The vast majority of our politicians see any kind of locked box as a prize if they can find a way into it. Social Security is a prime example. The politicians in DC found a way into that locked box in the 60’s (someone correct me if I am wrong about the time frame) and ever since we have been using the Social Security fund in a manor that will be leaving future generations struggling to ensure that it stays funded. Just bad politics, but the politicians saw the money saved for the future sitting there and decided that if they could just use it now… I don't know how many of you white-UltraRighties frequent this blog, but (as a white Democratic business voter), i'd *gladly* suffer lower state bond ratings and paying off some incredibly low-interest debt for a several years so grandma can eat and Johnny can read (and has books with which to do so) every year, not just in the years in which my business is doing well. Don't be misled by arbitrary, bizarro right-white-wing notions that "deficits are always bad!" ---> Sometimes, deficits are the right thing to do, if you love kids and your grandma, literally. .rob adams says never cut funding for society's innocents, even if it means you can't afford to scuba-dive with turtles this year. Ignoring all of the things in bold (I direct you to this page) lets just look at the fact that you are a business owner. As a business owner in America you probably aren’t paying much in taxes anyway (if you are you better get another accountant). Our politicians have seen to it that the vast majority of business are not paying anywhere near their fair share of taxes. No we the individual pay the majority of the taxes in this country and that will not change until the Tax Code is fixed or a group of politicians fixes it. Which will never happen as both parties need big business dollars to stay in power and once they take those dollars they have been tainted. We will not get out of the fiscal trouble that the country is in until our politicians learn to balance a budget and make due with what we have. And that will never happen because politicians do not want to make tough choices that will make them unpopular (in the short run), since they want to keep their cushy jobs in DC with the big paychecks and bigger perks. Oh yea I also do not think that I have any “white-UltraRighties” that frequent my little pothole in the information highway, if they do they are lurkers not posters. I would certainly like to point out the fallacies in their arguments if they took the time to post. It takes a bit more effort to get your ideas across if you take the time to do it without using fallacies but you may find that more people would take the time to read a well thought out argument that is cohesive without being offensive to either side of the political and ideological spectrum. Heh that being said my three viewers (spammers not included) are going to be the only ones that read this anyway… The worst thing that we ever did as a country was to take our currency off of the gold standard. But that is for tomorrow.

America???
Its come to this folks. Welcome to Boston have a nice stay. SecurityDNC.jpg And this is the DNC... Well we will just have to see what the RNC brings. If the RNC is smart they will allow the protests and just have a very heavily armed plain clothed presence to thwart any Goblins bent on mayhem, let people have their First Amendment rights. It seems that the powers in charge are forgetting the Constitution and the Bill of rights in their efforts to be "safe". There can be no First Amendment without the Second Amendment... Why do you think that the Terrorists have resorted to bombs in places like Israel? Easy, Israelis as a whole are armed. I will post the whole story later, to sum it up a group of Goblins decided that they were going to go over to the Israeli side of the country and shoot up the patrons of a few restaurants and markets. At the first restaurant they drew their weapons and tried to open fire. Of the three Goblins only one survived the outrage of the local citizens. the lone Goblin lamented from the hospital how they planned on hitting three or more civilian areas but were stopped by armed citizens and were surprised by the number of armed citizens... Good for the Israelis. PS. I would like to credit the photographer but have not been able to find his name out there on the web.

Elections…
Well the elections are coming up and the only choices are bad... As a Centrist Independent I find that the two established parties never put forth a candidate that I can vote for, they pick from their parties extremes and I cannot in good conscious vote for the extremists. Bush: Religious to the extreme Not all that fiscally conservative Anti-Abortion Way to conservative Kerry: Anti-Gun Will raise Taxes (not just on the rich "err himself") instead of cutting pork Too much spending on "social programs" Way to liberal Since I live in a predominantly liberal state my vote is fairly well negated. I will vote because it is my civic duty. I always take particular interest in the local races for house and senate since my vote may make a difference, we did manage not to vote in a very liberal politician for the governor this last time around. Even though he is a republican he seems to be a very moderate republican. It is kind of funny in a not so funny way. the liberals in office in the state government are so pissed about the governor that work very hard to block everything he tries to do. They are not letting him to do what it takes to get Maryland out of debt when it is their fault that we are in the financial difficulty in the first place. I wonder if that will back fire against them next time around? I can only hope so since they went along with the last governor who took us from a three hundred million dollar surplus to a 100 million or so deficit (the former governor bankrupted PG county before he became the governor so they can't say they did not see it coming).

Gahhh
I Suck. I have not been blogging like a good little boy... I will endeavor to change that in the upcoming days. It has been pretty hectic since we returned from the Caymans with work and all. I got about half the yard done yesterday but ran out of steam to finish the rest. I will be heading out of here soon and will get it finished when I get home. I will also try and get a few posts out over the next couple of days. I would have posted this weekend but was tied up reading a really good Sci-Fi book, and trying to catch up on Tivo. I have found so many good authors and all from one company, Baen. I first stumbled across them through David Webers books which I really like. I then stumbled across John Ringo who was writing with Weber and now Michael Z. Williamson whose book got me tied up again... Superb writers all three of them. I am waiting on a collaboration between Ringo and Williamson now (ordered it on Amazon its cheaper that way). I will try to post a synopsis a couple of the book later also...

Just in Time
Well we were an hour late getting out of Atlanta. We were pretty sure that we would miss the afternoon dive boat. Turns out that they waited for us and we did make the afternoon dive. I managed to get sunburned on my sholders after all that tanning anyway... Well the first dive was nice and we sot to spend a lot of time in swim through passages. Saw a nurse shark an a few other fish. I will probably try to post some images later...

Vacation starts now
Well we are mostly packed and ready to roll. We will be in the Caymans for 8 days at the Cayman Dive Lodge. They have a daily report page and we may make it on there with some pictures. I will also try and post a short post with a pic most days but am not promising anything since it is supposed to be a vacation. I will be shooting video on most if not all dives. I may even put up a short QT clip if anyone wants to see what pristine diving looks like... 9 hours till the plane ride...
