Fun Turns to Tragedy!!!

The Skinny

I am a gun enthusiast trapped in the People's Republic of Maryland. My political affiliation is Independent, as the Ruling parties are both full of crap, and long ago stopped representing the common man. If the Libertarians weren't such freaks I would probably be one. I am a member of the Nation of Riflemen and damn proud of it. I once took an oath that I would support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic. As far as I know I never broke that oath, and will continue to follow it. I am not Politically Correct and will NEVER be Politically Correct. If you need to know more, feel free, Ask.

what am I up too???

Back from vacation, rechared and refreshed.

Well the wife and I just got back from vacation in AZ.  We went and hit all the touristy stuff up in northern AZ and southern Utah.

As I had been doing film photography and letting my wife use the Canon D30 (which still takes very nice pictures) I decided that on this trip to AZ film was just going to be a pain.  The Canon D30 is 4 years old and technology has caught up, I decided it was time to get a new digital camera.  I have long been a Canon fan as they are pretty far ahead of the competition as far as technology goes.  So the decision just boiled down to which model.  Canon had just released a new full frame censor prosumer camera the 5D but due to the time frame and the price I was not interested.  So I picked up the 20D which had the frame rate that I was looking for as well as a decent buffer.  Here are a few pictures that I took while on vacation.

Unfortunately it was so windy that day I was unwilling to get close enough to the edge of the canyon.  I took a few other pics of this canyon and will be trying to stitch them together to get a better full view as the 17mm lens that I was using just was not wide enough with the 1.6X crop factor.

These next few pictures were all taken at the same place.  I really loved this place for photography.

I will have to go back to this particular canyon again when the light is right to get better shots.  When the light is right you get light beams that hit the ground quit spectacularly, I really want to photograph this place again when the conditions are better.

So where were these pictures taken?  I am sure that AZ bloggers have a head start on this one.

I have a cool link button waiting for the first blogger that can tell me…

Calvin and Hobbes…

About ten years ago I stopped reading the comics.  For me there was really no more Joy in the comics.  Bloom County had long ago ceased to be much fun, but Calvin and Hobbes came along when Bloom County started to loose its luster.  I loved reading Calvin and Hobbes it was always fun and fresh.

Well finally I get to start reading Calvin and Hobbes all over again as the complete C&H hit my doorstep while I was on vacation, all 3,160 strips ready for my enjoyment.

At least there is one comic that I enjoy reading today…

Car Stolen…

Well Dad had his 10 year old saturn stolen from his driveway yesterday.  It sure does suck to live in a neighborhood where you can’t even leave your car outside of your garage.

Too bad that neighborhood is Scottsdale AZ and the average value of houses in the development is around 700 ~ 800K.

My bet is that it was stolen by an illegal immigrant or two.

And yes, Dad did disable his garage door opener.

Blog vacation

Yea, I know I have not been posting.  I have just been trying to show Countertop and the rest just how you take a break from blogging.

But I had to post today because…

As I rolled past the NRA HQ building on 66 this morning the odometer on my Wife’s former car rolled from 99999 to 100000…  what timing…  and it was the first time I actually remembered to look down and actually see it roll.  I usually catch it at 100002 or so, and am a bit let down…

I am working on a new post as I type.  So maybe over the weekend.
