Fun Turns to Tragedy!!!

The Skinny

I am a gun enthusiast trapped in the People's Republic of Maryland. My political affiliation is Independent, as the Ruling parties are both full of crap, and long ago stopped representing the common man. If the Libertarians weren't such freaks I would probably be one. I am a member of the Nation of Riflemen and damn proud of it. I once took an oath that I would support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic. As far as I know I never broke that oath, and will continue to follow it. I am not Politically Correct and will NEVER be Politically Correct. If you need to know more, feel free, Ask.

what am I up too???

You know the only difference

Between this Rat Bastard and a lot of the other congress critters?

He was dumb enough to get caught.  Now that he got caught with his hands in the cookie jar he needs to go to jail for the maximum amount of time as well as forfeit all of his ill gotten gains.  We need to ensure that the congress critters are not above the law, especially when they expect us to adhere to them.

The one thing that bugged me a bit was that you have to dig pretty deep into the conservative blogs to find any posts about the esteemed Congress critter.  Yep a Repub got his ass handed to him, as an honest broker in the information age you should have the decency/courage to report about it (yes I do understand that there were a lot of bigger news stories today, but a couple of paragraphs would be fair).

Update:

Well Captain’s Quaters gave me a half paragraph blurb on the Congress critter, so I feel a little less bugged.

We need vehicular mounted weaponry…

Now picture this in your mind, it is 5:15 in the morning and there are 6 other cars on the road with you…  You are reveling in you good fortunes, as traffic is light.  Which tends to occur when you inexplicably wake at 4:30 am, and you know Mr. Sandman is not going to make a return trip to your cranium.  Well lucky for you your good fortune is about to be banished to the 9th circle of hell by some rude inconsiderate bastard driving a fucking Geo Metro.  It is bad enough that said bastard is camping in the left hand lane, but to add insult to injury the Metro is overtaking the other two cars in the right hand lane at the stately pace of just over a foot per minute.  Oh and the Metro is only doing 59 mph in said left hand lane at 5:15 in the morning.  If this was, lets say, 8am on the beltway, the Metro would have already been run off the road by people in the left hand lane doing 80 mph while putting on makeup in a 6000 pound SUV.  But never mind that particular fantasy, as it is now 5:25 am.  The Geo Metro has now accelerated to the impressive speed of 61 mph and is now half way up to the front of the lead car in the slow lane.  Now to be fair there is a tail wind that is helping the Metro break the vaunted speed of 60 mph.  What is it with people that buy a car with only 3 cylinders and suddenly think that they own the left hand lane.  There are a proper number of cylinders in a car, and that number is always evenly divisible by two.

It is times like this that necessitate vehicular mounted weaponry, as fun as a TOW missile would be, it just seems a bit too abrupt.  The person in front of you may not be a rude inconsiderate bastard, they just may not be paying as much attention to the task at hand as they should.  Some people just need a bit of a poke to get them to wake up and drive right.  I would personally like to mount a phased plasma cannon in the 40 megawatt range, with three settings.  Setting one, Big Evil Red Light of Doom just to issue a clue to the clueless.  Setting tow, Bake at 350° because some people are extra daft.  Finally we have setting three, Big Conflagration followed by a short sooty streak on the blacktop.

Now this is not to say that I have never held up a person in the left hand lane.  The big difference is that I will put on an extra bit of steam to pass the person in the right hand lane.  I will then promptly get over to let the person in the left lane go past.  Common sense, and courtesy makes the world go round people.

So if you are coasting along in the left hand lane minding your own business and suddenly in your rear view mirror you see a Big Evil Red Light of Doom, please make every attempt to stop impeding traffic before it gets too warm in your car.

And don’t even get me started about Minivans in the left hand lane…

Links and Stuff

Well a couple of weeks ago I ran a contest for a cool link button.  All you had to do was figure out where I had taken the nice slot canyon photographs.  Well I had a couple of guesses and had Dave from over at “War on Guns” not had a button already he would have been the winner.  As it turns out Josh over at South Park Pundit was the first person to come up with the correct guess.  Now I know I issued the challenge almost a month ago, getting this link button out took me a bit longer than I would like but after reading all of Josh’s site I was able to come up with something…

image

As he is in the People’s Republic of Kalifornia, I thought that this one was quite apropos to his current situation in California.  People, please feel free to put a comment in the comment section and let me know what this image says to you…

Now on to the people that I have been so impolite to because I have taken way too long in putting up reciprocal links.

First up is a nice solid 2A blog site.  AlanDP over at Blogonomicon has been linked to me for a very long time but I am finally getting him up on my blog roll.

Next is Fish Or Man.  Yes that Fish Or Man who made quite a stir in the 2A blogging world when he got popped by the law “for unlawful carry” and other sundry offenses that the police tried to make up after he filed filed a complaint against the Polezi in a town near him.  So go over and check out his blog Fish Or Man. (oh yea, he does not really have a blog roll,  I also did not even realize that I met him at boomershoot)

Mr. Completely is someone who I have been reading for a while now, as his is a friend of Analog Kid he can’t be all that bad.  I get a bit jealous reading his posts about the competitions that he and Analog have been shooting in, Alas I live in the PRoMD so the kind of fun shooting that they get to do just about any weekend that they want to is fairly hard to come by out here in Liberal La La Land.  So here is Mr. Completely Hopefully he will be making boomershoot this year…

Cogito Ergo Geek is another that I have been reading for a while.  His site is another that makes me wish I lived out west where there are next to no MetroSexuals.  He also has a gallery of full speed IPSC pics and videos which make me wish that there were closer venues where I could get involved in more competitive shooting.  Go on over and check out the Geek over at Cogito Ergo Geek.

Next we have Oscar Poppa.  He has been linked to me for a while now and I have been slacking on getting my links updated.  He is a solid 2A blogger who I enjoy reading.  Now that I have a permanent link up for him I will be checking far more frequently.  Here is Oscar Poppa.

Finally I have someone who I have been reading since she started blogging I am putting up a link to her exceptional writing.  Without further flowery words here is Tam at a View From The Porch.  Go read her blogging now, she has only been at it for a couple of months it won’t take more than a couple of hours.  Books, Bikes, and Boomsticks.  Oh Yea…

Wally world adventures…

Well I arrived at the Arundel Mills Wal-Mart at 4:15 and headed for the sporting goods department.  I was all set with the time but it seems that Wal-Mart was having a bit of problems with the keys to the kingdom.  So I finally got my ammo rung up at 4:47.  Seems I missed the window by a bit.  Now I remember why I don’t shop at Wal-Mart.  I will be putting up pics of my Ammo Day procurements tomorrow (i hope).

I lied…

Well I had stated that I was not going to cheat on Ammo Day, I seemed to have stopped at bass pro today.  I figured that during the blitz of Wal-Mart at 4:30 tomorrow I would not happen across any 300 Win Mag.

Pictures to follow tomorrow…

Ok everyone Polka…

Well we went to Blobs Park with a couple of friends Saturday night.  A good time was had by all.

Blobs park has been around for 50 plus years (since 1933).  We have lived near it all my life and I had never made it there for any reason.  Blobs park is an authentic Bavarian Biergarten (well at least as authentic as you get here in the states) with lots of dancing and of course polka music, oh and german beer.

I had a good time and drank lots of beer (well I had four, but they were big) I started with a Aecht Schlenkerla Rauch that probably would have been better with food as it is a smoky beer, but I liked none the less.  The second beer was something that I can’t (and Blobs park does not have it on their beer list) It was quite good also.  Next up was a Erdinger Dunkel Weiss which was quite good with no bitter after taste that you can sometimes get with a Weiss beer.  I was very pleased with this beer and would recommend it to any novice Weiss drinker as an excellent introduction to this beer family.  Finally I finished up the night with a Tucher Dopple Bock.  This had to have been the best beer I have had in the last 5 years.  It absolutely kicked butt.  I will have to see if I can find it locally around here as I really loved this beer.  I was going to order a Samichlaus from austria but they were out.  Next time for sure.  Liz assures me that the Jager Schnitzel was fairly authentic (except for the bacon in the gravy), and it was tasty.  The sausage sampler was also quite nice and hit the spot with the Smoke beer.

It was as a fun night with lots of dancing (not for me) and beer drinking (yes please).  The polka music was not too bad, but I have to draw the line at the polka version of margaritaville, it just does not sound right being played on a tuba and accordion.  Though the ho-key pokey was the straw that broke the camels back so to speak and the end of our night.  All in all I had a good time at Blobs Park and will probably return soon for more beer and Schnitzel.

Happy Veterans Day

All you veterans out there, Have a great day.

I am glad you all “Get it”.

After meeting some of the men that are walking the line over there today, I am more proud than ever to have been one of your brothers in arms once…

Now that I am old and otherwise ineligible ... There are indeed days that I wish I could be over there…

You are making a difference.

Remember, over here there will be no “Tommy this, an’ Tommy that”...
