Fun Turns to Tragedy!!!

The Skinny

I am a gun enthusiast trapped in the People's Republic of Maryland. My political affiliation is Independent, as the Ruling parties are both full of crap, and long ago stopped representing the common man. If the Libertarians weren't such freaks I would probably be one. I am a member of the Nation of Riflemen and damn proud of it. I once took an oath that I would support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic. As far as I know I never broke that oath, and will continue to follow it. I am not Politically Correct and will NEVER be Politically Correct. If you need to know more, feel free, Ask.

what am I up too???

The black sig shirt

Well I finally got to meet Cowboy Blob in the flesh.  He was out east visiting family and friends in PA and the land of the disarmed and helpless (MD).  I got an email from Cowboy Blob stating that he would be in town friday and saturday and would like to get together for a bite to eat.  We finally got it all planned and decided, Red Hot and Blue in Laurel (I did not even know there was one in laurel).  Blob gave me a description that indicated that he would be in a black polo with a sig logo on the chest, and they would be there at 6PM.  Sure enough 6PM rolls around and Liz and I are waiting at the front door of the RH&B and up walks a guy in a black sig polo…  I did not think that it looked like Blob but hey he could have shaved off his goatee and forgotten his hat.  So I say “Is that you Cowboy Blob?“.  I immediately got an gruff NO.  I think to myself what are the chances of two black sig polo shirts in the same place at the same time in the land of sheepople, then up comes Cowboy and his friend and family.  So I was only a little embarrassed about the whole exchange, but hey you know the old saying, nothing venture nothing gained.  Turns out the other guy in the sig shirt is an NRA instructor, may use his services later…

And here is just a bit of proof that I am not seeing things.

And Bill was a good sport about having his picture taken (sorry about poor picture Bill as I am not used to shutterlag).

Thanks for a great time.  I think that fun was had by all…

On the current energy crisis…

Frankly I am sick and tired of the political blowhards in DC pointing their little insignificant fingers at the oil companies for the current high gas prices.  The should really remember that when you are pointing your finger at something there are three fingers pointing right back at you.  They are currently having their own little witch hunt, “Big Oil” in their eyes is witch that has turned us all into newts.

Lets look at another reality while we are at it.  For more than 30 years now the

democrat

congress critters have not let us do a few things that will keep our energy prices in check.

1).  Alternate energy sources.  There are only a very few alternate sources of renewable energy, Solar, Wind, Tides and we are not exploiting any of those to any great extent.  If the government wants to make clean renewable energy, then they should be investing our tax dollars in research in those sources of energy.

2). Nuclear power.  There have been incredible advances in Nuclear power.  Today it is more efficient and less polluting.  Look to Japan and yes even France to see how it is done.  Oh and the founder of Green

Peace

Pees even says that Nuclear power is the way to go right now.

3). Oil.  The fact is that America has plenty of its own oil.  We just are not allowed to drill for any of it.  Between the Environmental nuts and the spineless jellyfish in Congress drilling for new oil in the US is verboten.

So in the last 30 years how many Nuclear power plants have come online?  New Refineries for coping with an increase in fuel use?  How many oil fields have come on line in the US?

NONE.

US population in 1965: 194,302,963
US population in 2006: 298,649,476 (est)

So in the last 40 years we have added over one hundred million people without expanding our energy producing capability.

Huh?  does that make sense to all three of my readers?

Guess it is big oils fault that oil is over 70 bucks a gallon
Guess it is big oils fault that we have not built any new Nuclear plants.
Guess it is big oils fault that we have no large scale solar generating farms.
Guess it is big oils fault that we have no large scale wind farms.

So when I am paying 3 bucks a gallon for gas and just had my electricity bill go up 110 bucks a month I guess my congress critter wants me to blame big oil.

NOT…

I am just not that stupid.  The reason that our energy costs are skyrocketing is to be laid wholly at the feet of our government.  The president?  The president is a transient, he is in power for 4 years (8 if he is lucky or a better liar than most).  The Congress is where the buck stops.  They can either look out for the best interest of the country (which is their job) or they can just get on the special interest gravy train and make the easy cheap (at least for today) decision.  ALL of our elected officials are busy pandering to the special interest groups out there.  It needs to stop NOW.

With consumption of natural resources up globally oil and natural gas is not going to get any cheaper.  There are advances in technology that can ease our short term energy needs.  But without developing any new sources of clean renewable energy in the next 10 years we are going to be screwed sometime in the next 50 to 75 years.

So remember when you are getting bent over by your electric company and at the pumps, your current crop of congress critters (who have generally been in power for 20 plus years) are the ones with 3 fingers pointing back at them.
