Fun Turns to Tragedy!!!

The Skinny

I am a gun enthusiast trapped in the People's Republic of Maryland. My political affiliation is Independent, as the Ruling parties are both full of crap, and long ago stopped representing the common man. If the Libertarians weren't such freaks I would probably be one. I am a member of the Nation of Riflemen and damn proud of it. I once took an oath that I would support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic. As far as I know I never broke that oath, and will continue to follow it. I am not Politically Correct and will NEVER be Politically Correct. If you need to know more, feel free, Ask.

what am I up too???

Want to be bored???

I mean Really Bored…

Go see Miami Vice.

Man there was more action in a 43 minute episode of the original TV show than there was in the entire 128 minute movie…  Now as I am fairly easily entertained I love action flicks.  But this is the first action flick that I have seen in a while where I thought halfway through the movie “I am bored”, my wife was thinking the same thing.  WTF no car chase?  I mean why put a Ferrari in the movie if you are going to drive it at 60?  The three action scenes in the movie were ok and only just OK.  The first scene where the Feds were being opened up on by a sniper with a .50 cal was good but now we are going to hear the GFWs screaming See, See…  The other two action scenes were ok, but nothing like Heat…

Man, when will we have a movie that equals Heat for an action scene…  So to my two loyal readers, if you must see Miami Vice wait till video…

Mark,  Even the sex scenes sucked… I mean what is the point of making the movie rated R if there are no boobies…

Don’t look back…

Maybe it is time to let the Europe take care of itself for a while…  They have done so well in the past…

As the full measure of what the U.N. is worth is revealed, why do we stay involved with that resource sucking organization which accomplishes nothing but issuing resolutions.  I mean they come to our country over our Independence holiday to talk about disarming our citizens for gods sake…  The only thing that the UN is good for is sending Band-Aids to war torn regions.  When there is a crisis like the Tsunami that hit the pacific region we send wood, water, manpower, and medical aid, while the U.N. send bureaucrats that demand rides in our relief helicopters,  which then instead of rescuing and delivering aid are wasting time for a dog and pony show…

Screw the U.N.

If we want to be involved in world policy then we should do it through NATO, as that is the only organization that can get things done.

Toothless organization filled with Unproductive Nefarious oxygen thieves

The U.N. is Outraged.  That’s right the U.N. is outraged over an air strike that has killed 4 of their United Nations Interim Force In Lebanon (UNIFIL) personnel.  The U.N. even goes so far as to call the air strike deliberate.  Now I do feel for the people’s families as it is never a good thing to get killed before it is your time, but the UNIFIL has no business still being in Lebanon if they are not going to do their job.

Now I had started doing a bit of research in the UNIFIL and what caused it to be in place and just what was its mission and responsibilities in the region.  I had fully intended to post about the security resolutions and what they meant in context to today, but in doing all my research I first came across the flag of Hezbollah

I then came across this picture from a book called “Inside the Asylum” by Jed Babbin

Anyone recognize the flag flying next to the U.N. flag?

Now I understand just why Israel wants a NATO force and wants nothing to do with the worthless organization named the U.N.

Now I do feel sorry for the soldier that died in the air strike, but the U.N. has no business being in Lebanon if they are not going to be an impartial force. They are there to enforce U.N. security

toilet paper resolution.  It seems that the U.N. is in bed with the terrorists and not enforcing Security Council resolution 1655.  Had the U.N. done as their not worth the paper it was written on

security resolution stated we would not have this mess to sort out now.  Can someone remind me why we continue fund this useless organization?

So as far as I am concerned Israel can go ahead and bomb Lebanon and Hezbollah until they are no longer willing or able to fight.  Its time to finish the job instead of giving the terrorist dirt bags a chance to regroup, re-supply, and re-strengthen.

I think that the action that the Israelis are currently taking is a “Proportionate Response” and maybe not Proportionate enough.

Getting back on the horse…

Well I finally got another email from Major Mark over in the sand box.  It was very good to hear from him again as I do worry about how he is doing over there.  Seems that he is doing fine after his back blew out on him, and he sends me the same message that I sent One in a row… last summer.

That message is: Get over it, and get back to blogging about guns, girls, and fast cars.

Ayep… It is about time I got over my funk.

Well to get my butt moving on defunkifiying I went to a gun show over the weekend.  I went to the Prince Georges Equestrian Center gun show (Silverado).  Now as far as this show is concerned there really were no deals to be had.  I did however find one gun that had me going back to that particular vendor several times.  It was a Swedish Mauser in pristine condition.  I did finally decide to pick it up along with more ammo (which was the deal of the show) for my K31.  I also picked up 5 boxes of ammo for the Mauser as it was not that expensive.  Ahh another rifle caliber to reload for…

Now my feelings about gun shows in Maryland…
Ok, I am just wondering here about the vendors at Gun shows, are you really there to sell stuff or not?  I wonder around the show looking for old military weapons (I like them, and I like to shoot them) and I see almost every vendor there has a few.  But when I go and look at them I see prices that are way way over the value of the weapons that they are offering.  I mean a beat Enfield for $300 bucks, an ok K31 Swiss rifle for $290 bucks.  Give me a break.  I know how much these things go for at a wholesaler like AIM, and I am not willing to pay that much money just for a convenient delivery.  If you want to charge $290 bucks for a K31 then the bluing should be 95% or better with a very neat bore. and a fantastic stock.  Not like that beat up K31 that I saw.  So is it that these vendors are just not really looking to sell things or is it that they are keeping the good stuff for their shop and brining the crap to the gunshows?

Maybe I just need to get out of Maryland for gunshows as my neighbor added three more Mausers to his Mausers of the world collection for $100 bucks apiece in neighboring PA.  Maybe the gun show dealers in MD think because it is MD we have more money to spend on these things and jack the prices up accordingly.

Oh by the way.  I am still looking to pick up a Browning Hi Power pistol and saw a couple of examples at the show, but as I am not sure of the going price of a Hi Power in euro pellet, and I am leery of plunking down any cash at a show for one.  Anyone out there picked up the Charles Daly HP (browning copy) and able to give me a review as my local GS has them for a good bit below his MSRP of $499.

Hot Damn Hot…

Well it is hot here.  Its not just the heat that makes it no fun to be outside but the humidity is also high, so you go outside and start sweating almost immediately.  No fun I tell you…

On the bright side the ac got fixed and it is cool and dry inside.

Oh, hangovers still suck…
