Fun Turns to Tragedy!!!

The Skinny

I am a gun enthusiast trapped in the People's Republic of Maryland. My political affiliation is Independent, as the Ruling parties are both full of crap, and long ago stopped representing the common man. If the Libertarians weren't such freaks I would probably be one. I am a member of the Nation of Riflemen and damn proud of it. I once took an oath that I would support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic. As far as I know I never broke that oath, and will continue to follow it. I am not Politically Correct and will NEVER be Politically Correct. If you need to know more, feel free, Ask.

what am I up too???

Crash Update

Well my wrist and shoulder still hurt so I made a doctors appointment.  Got the hand and shoulder X-rayed.  I have a free floating bone chip on the wrist, and my shoulder still hurts but there was nothing broken.  It sucks getting older as it takes a lot longer to heal up.

So my riding nick name has been changed to Bone Crusher.

Scary segment of the population…

This just boggles my mind.  Its not like your local Ferrari dealership was selling off its remaining inventory for one hundred bucks a car, first come first serve.

Its Wal-Mart for gods sake…  People get a grip.  there is nothing in wal-mart worth getting excited about, much less trampling someone to death…

Ride Fast covers it in a bit more depth that I did.

Color me Disgusted.

Taking the build plunge

Well I ordered an AR-15 stripped lower today.  It should come sometime this weekend or early next week.  Then I have to go fill out the transfer form and wait for Maryland to get through the paperwork.  so some 10 or 15 days after I put the paperwork in I can go pick it up.

So in the mean time I guess I have to figure out what parts to put into it.  Any suggestions?

French Nightclubs Burned Down in War Between Nudists, Swingers

The headline kind of says it all…  but since the headline really encourages that you take a peek go ahead.  Remember it is France…  Off to the London Times for that peek.

Did they really have to do that…

I know the Redskins have a bigger viewing audience than the Ravens, but did you all really have to do that…

I mean yes the ravens were ahead by bunches, I would still like to see the whole game, but nooooo.

So I have to go searching for the end of the game.  I can firmly state that Standard Definition and foot ball sucks.  You can’t even read the names on the jerseys.

SD just plain sucks.  I know I am spoiled, but is is a good spoiled.

Just call me crash…

Well it is just after our little group of reprobates tri-annual trip to West by God Virginia and the Hatfield and McCoy trails.  In my two years of riding (not quite 2 yet but it is getting close) I have improved greatly in my semi mad riding skilz.  Though I am still known to crash from time to time.  Usually it is due to some water related incident hence my nickname in our little group of riders is Stream Diver.  This time though I actually managed to crash at speed for the first time.  My biggest revelation about the whole crash at speed thing is that, it happens fast.

I was going down a hill at roughly 30 MPH.  Well at some point I hit a rock that was at some kind of funny angle.  Now here is where things get fuzzy.  I am not really sure of the exact sequence of the crash.  I think I remember having the handle bars yanked out of my hands by the rocks, but I am not real sure because next thing I know I am sliding down the rocky slope on my front or was it my side?  I figure I also wrung my bell even though my helmet did not take any damage except for a slightly flexed visor.  I also seem to have taken out a fairly large rock with my knee.  Fortunately I was wearing knee/shin guards because the rock was probably 8 inches around and 12 inches or so long, I broke it clean in half.  There is a price to pay when you take a digger…

Well as I was the number 2 guy I figured it may be in my best interest to get out of the middle of the trail.  So after a quick systems check I decided that I could get up with no problems.  The whole time I am laid out my bike was just idling, you have to love the Rekluse auto clutch…  So the next guy comes to a halt behind me, I get the obligatory “are you alright” question.  As soon as I stated I was ok, my fellow rider gave me the “man that was a cool crash”.  Apparently I had great form on my accelerated bike dismount technique.  So I sat next to the trail taking inventory of the pain,  left hand, left knee, right shin.  No blood, no apparent broken bones,  all is mostly right with the world.

When I finally got moving again it was time to inventory the bike.  I was impressed that the only thing that got bent was the brush guard.  It was twisted up 90 degrees (which had happened before but not as badly),  I had replacement bolts back at the cabin so there were no non fixable problems. So the bike is also mostly right with the world…

We still had some riding to do but I was no longer up for any black trails.  Two hours later we finally made it back to the truck.  Upon taking off the riding pants I find that I have some spectacular bruising on my left knee.  The right shin is cut open from the impact of the rocks even through the shin guards.  I have also developed Hulk hand on my left hand/wrist.  So after 5 or 6 beers that night I was feeling no pain.

Well come morning I also had some pain in the right shoulder.  The left hand is also pretty swollen.  The bruises are even better looking than yesterday.  Time to go riding…

Did not make it a full day on friday.  but Saturday was a really fun full day of riding.  I can’t wait to go back.  Might go a bit slower over wet rocks on the down hilsl next time though.

Done is Done

As Kim du Toit said

We are not Democrats: we do not whine, or scream, or take to the streets with puppets.

We take our punishment, pick ourselves up, and get on with it.

The glass is currently half full.  It can either get a bit more full, or it can get poured on your shoes.
