Fun Turns to Tragedy!!!
The Skinny
I am a gun enthusiast trapped in the People's Republic of Maryland. My political affiliation is Independent, as the Ruling parties are both full of crap, and long ago stopped representing the common man. If the Libertarians weren't such freaks I would probably be one. I am a member of the Nation of Riflemen and damn proud of it. I once took an oath that I would support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic. As far as I know I never broke that oath, and will continue to follow it. I am not Politically Correct and will NEVER be Politically Correct. If you need to know more, feel free, Ask.

I think if we could clone this guy he would be great for about 30 states in the union…
It is so refreshing to see a politician who tells it like it is. Blunt and to the forehead with the big old clue bat…

What is it about the word Illegal that our government just does not seem to understand.
The easiest way to curb the flow of illegals into this country is to cut off their source of funds. How about we start enforcing the myriad of laws around employing illegals. Once you jail the first two or three business owners, word would get out and employers would stop hiring.
With no jobs available, and the prospect of not being able to send money to home I think the flow of illegals would soon turn to a trickle. Maybe more of them will stay in their home countries, or better yet, come to America in a legal fashion like my great great grandparents.
I think the Governor said it best “Do you job”
Hat tip to Smallest Majority
Well as I finally have a .223 that I like to shoot I guess that I need to start reloading for it.
Since I am not going to be shooting HiPower I figured I would just use the old Dillion 650, I ruled it out for the .308 as I wanted a lot more precision in my reloads. The Dillion 650 is good for +/- .1 grains around my 23.4 grain goal for Varget pushing a 77 grain pill.
I have read that a lot of guys are pushing the combo of Varget and the 77 grain SMK past the max load with good results, but I like my guns and my person so I am not going to be looking for more than 23.4 grains.
Now I have a buddy that I am doing this with as he is also running a 1 in 7 twist barrel. This is where all my fun started in the reloading room. Showing a new person how to reload takes a lot more attention with all of the steps of reloading. It breaks your rhythm and habits, for the first time ever I had a couple of reloading gaffs in setup of the machine.
First I forgot to adjust the long pin that works the case feed ramp to actuate the dropping and position of the cases. I usually set up the first die and all its ancillary components dealing with the case feeder in one step. I forgot to move the pin, so it would not push the cases all the way into the case holder disk. Fixed that but I interrupted my routine on setting up station two which happens to be the powder drop station. So after I sized the first case and pulled the handle that started on the second stage I had a rude awakening where the powder drop did not get tightened all the way down and went for a tumble, It got caught but dumped a good bit of Varget on the floor (cry cry). Got that all cleaned up and then retightened the powder drop, without seating it all the way down. Repeat of the first dumping but no powder this time. Got the powder station correctly set the third time. At least the powder check, seating, and crimp all went off like normal the first time round.
Of course there had to be a problem. The bolt will not close over the resized cases. Now I need to look at the press again today with a fresh set of eyes, but I swore that the full length de-capping resize die was all the way down. Sigh. I need to check everything one more time and make sure things are in spec. Case check die on order now.
I also have a super swage on order as I seem to have some cases that have a very tight pocket and are not taking a primer. I will also be looking to acquire some once fired LC brass so I will be needing the Super Swage
Update: Well I went down to the reloading bench and yes the die was turned all the way down. I then unbolted the die and took it over to my single stage press and screwed it all the way down. Cycled the press and had the same thing happen. I then screwed the die in another half turn, gee now my bolt will close over the brass casing. I really did not think that I would have to screw it in another half turn past where it stops, as I have never had to do that with pistol stuff.
Too bad I bent the de-capping rod in all my stupidity induced fiddling last night. Not sure if I am going to have to order another full length die or if the de-capping rod is order-able. I know the de-capping pin is order-able, but I bent the fricking rod the de-capping pin screws into, fricking brute…
I know for my one reader that the page was loading slowly.
Seems like the truth laid bare java script was acting up.
So I shot it, no more bare truth here.
