Bullet Shootout

Well today I went to the indoor range and got some shooting time in.  I was shooting to compare the Montana Gold bullets with the Rainier bullets.  The main difference between the two bullets is that the Montana Gold is Jacketed Lead Flat points, and the Rainier is Copper Plated Swaged Lead Flat points.

So I proceeded to load up 4 magazines with 8 rounds each.  Two mags of Montana Gold and two mags of Rainier.  I was able to put the first mag of MG into a single ragged hole about 2 inches in diameter with no flyers.  The first mag of Rainiers went into about three inches with 2 flyers.  The next mag of MG went much like the first mag of MG except I pulled two rounds down and to the right by 2 inches.  Then next mag of Rainiers had no flyers but was about 4 inches.

And that is how the Rainier shot all morning,  3 - 4 inch groups with the some large flyers.  The MG shot well all morning with groups ranging from 2 - 3 inches with no real flyers but an occasional operator error.

So it looks like I will be using up the rainier bullets in practice matches and range time till they are no more…

Now all I need to do is get more powder and primers.  which given the Age of Obama, is no mean feat.  I was able to find what I needed at Powder Valley but had to buy federal match primers instead of regular federal large pistol primers.  They said it was all in stock but time will tell.

You need to talk to Robb about getting his OAL to settle down and quit moving around.
