Wrapping it up…

Project is all done and the customer is happy… Next up 24 hours of airport and airplane time.

I have a few things that I want to blog about but have found that I don’t have some photos I want to use on my now broken iPad.

The iPad got knocked off of a counter and landed on a corner… Fortunately the LCD display is not damaged so the fix will be fairly cheap…

It has been a rough month for me and displays…

Why do I bother?

Had a debate with a friend on facecock today.

This is a person who always posts liberal talking point crap. Usually I just blow by them and ignore them. Today I had to comment on his drivel. Like a typical liberal he could not stay on topic and constantly had to throw some other liberal talking point out there once his argument was debunked.

Then he throws out the line that he is an independent. RIGHT….. He is so in the tank for our socialist president that is is not funny. After my fourth response I just decided why bother. Just another reason that I am trying to ween myself off of facecock.

If I was not stuck in Oman during Ramadan I doubt that I would have wasted the hour debating with this person. In fact I just deleted my last response because I was just wasting my time…

Not sure why I bother, except I won’t be silenced…

Busy busy…

Not much to say today. Busy wrapping up the job so I can go home for two days. Sigh…

Still processing what the Paul Ryan pick means, but I hope that it means that we can focus back on what is important to the country.

It’s the economy stupid…

Assisted opening knives

I have long been a fan of assisted opening knives. But I have always been a bit nervous about an accidental discharge so to speak…

I always keep my knives razor sharp, so I am always fastidious about the blade locks on my knives.

Anyone out there ever heard of these knives opening in peoples pants pockets?

I am really enjoying my new Benchmade Emissary but worry from time to time about it opening in my pants…

Should I be concerned?

Ten Months and Counting

Well in roughly 10 months I will be leaving on an adventure. It will be a bit over a month of traveling.

My friend Mike and I will be doing the TAT or Trans America Trail. This is about 4,800 miles of mostly off road riding.

Mike and I have been talking about this for 3 years now. Since we are not getting any younger we decided late last year that it was time. This meant getting Dual Sport bikes as each of us had strictly off road bikes already.

Deciding on the right bikes was a fairly difficult process. We started out looking at BMW F800s. The price was kind of steep and they were very heavy for what they were…

This lead us to look at Kawasaki KLR 650. The weight was about right if a bit heavy, and the motorcycles are cheaply made and inexpensive to buy. But the deeper we looked the more disappointed we got, low horsepower, spindly suspension, marginal brakes, etc. Basically a non starter for us.

We then started to look at Husqvarna 610/630 dual sport bikes and they fit the bill for us, but finding a new one was problematic and finding a used 610 with fuel injection was not easy. Mike grabbed up an 07 but that year lacked fuel injection and I was not interested in another bike without FI. Then BMW bought husky and discontinued the 630 as an new bike. I looked for 5 months for a new or used 610/630 and came close once but the seller backed out on me at the last moment. I was desperate to get the bike so we could start prepping it alongside Mike’s bike, but none were for sale within a thousand miles…

So I started out this year with no bike, but I had a plan, and an eye on a completely different manufacturer…

TBC…

Empty streets…

Nice and Quiet here on Thursday and Friday as this is the weekend here.

The only problem is there is no food during the day, so like it or not I am fasting onThursday and Friday during Ramadan…

Once 6 pm rolls around you can’t get a seat in a resturant. ┬áNot how I wanted to diet but it works…

If they only got a degree in something useful

Seen on the interwebs and really liked… Wish I could give credit where it is due…

I have a couple of liberal friends, no really, stop laughing…

Getting a degree in interpretative dance, art history, or women’s study is not going to get you anywhere in today’s economy. But then you can always not wash your hair for months and roll around in patchouli oil, and join the 99%. All while carrying $120,000 in debt from Columbia University. Your life is going to be spent sucking on the government teat.

Good luck with that as a long term solution as we will very shortly be running out of other peoples money. We are already at or over 40 cents per dollar of federal spending being borrowed from the Chinese…

So remember to smile nicely when I ask for fries with my Big Mac.

Time for something new.

When I started this blog back in 2002 it was just personal ramblings. It quickly morphed into a gun blog with with a bunch of gun politics. It was contentious times with the sunset of the AWB coming up in 2004 so I was writing my thoughts on the expiration of the ban and all of the Hoplophobes doing their damnedest to extend that ban.

Not to mention that I was still bitter about not being able to get standard capacity mags for my HundK (Because you suck, And we hate you) USP in .45acp (it was released in .45 just months after the ban was enacted and I was stuck with neutered 10 round mags). And because they hated us so much it took me until 2006 to find a standard capacity magazine for the USP. I still love that gun since it is like having it hard wired into my optic nerve, what I see I can hit dead center every time.

It stayed a gun/politics blog up until I ran out of steam in 2010 or so, and lost all motivation to write anything. It stayed up and I puttered around with a post every blue moon or so, basically a waste of a good dream host account…

So here it is 2012 and ten year later, and I actually feel like writing again. I have been at it for a week now and am trying to get out a post at least 6 days a week. Give me a month and check back with me on that… But this time I will be branching out a bit further than guns and politics, though those two topics will still be heavily influential in my postings.

I will also be posting a lot about Motorcycles and my upcoming big trip (Wait for it). And if the worst president in history gets reelected it will also feature posts about going Galt…

So, see you tomorrow. Or sooner if you are lucky, or not lucky depending on your bent…

Missed one.

Sorry I missed a day there. Trying to get in the habit of posting every day. But between work and stress over a parts issue I was a bit busy…

Got the parts issue sorted out and have been stuffing 4 days of work into one day of work so I could make my cut deadline of tomorrow at 4 PM… Should be a Go!!!

Update: Cut went well. Done in an hour. Service restored in 20 minutes or less. Almost sounds like I deliver pizza…

It used to be…

That you wondered what Obama was lying to you about…

Now you wonder what he isn’t lying about, because everywhere you turn there is yet another story about what he is lying about now…

November won’t come too soon…
